Russian Chamber Orchestra
The Russian Chamber Orchestra was founded in December 2001 by Sergey
Proskurin, the virtuoso trumpeter and conductor known all over the world.
In 2004 the Orchestra became the Chamber Orchestra of Kursk State University
which offered new prospects of implementing the ensemble’s creative plans
and projects.
During the busy years of performing the orchestra had a number of
international tours: Tunisia (2002), Sweden (2003), the USA (2004), Germany
(2003, 2005), Egypt (2006), Spain (2007, 2008), Austria (2007), and Ireland
(2008). It was honored with the title of Laureate at the XVII
El Jem International Festival
of Symphonic Music
(El Jem, Mahdia,
Tunisia). In May 2003 the orchestra participated in the
Cultural Week in
Germany
supported by European Union. The
Red Sea Gubernator (Egypt) awarded the Russian Chamber Orchestra with the
Medal for its contribution to development of Russian culture in Egypt.
The Russian Chamber Orchestra works with outstanding music performers,
Marine Yashvili, the National Artist of Georgia, the Honored Artist of
Russia and the laureate of international contests; Alexander Vedernikov, the
National Artist of the USSR; Veniamin Korobov, the Honored Artist of Russia;
Mikhail Petukhov (Moscow), the Honored Artist of Russia, laureate of
international contests; Georgy Tsay, the Moscow Virtuozi Chamber
Orchestra’s soloist, Galina Boyko and Irina Samoilova, the soloists of the
Bolshoi Theatre, and others.
The orchestra and maestro Proskurin initiated international creative
projects with such participants as Stephen Chenette,
a charter member of
the International Trumpet Guild, who has served four terms on its Board of
Directors, two as Secretary, and as a President, the member of the Board of
Directors of the Canadian Band Association (Ontario); Mats
Åberg, the professor of the Royal
College of Music, Stockholm; Luciano
Lanfranchi, the professor of the "Niccolò
Paganini" Conservatory of Genoa;
Takayoshi Wanami, the professor of
Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo and Mineko Tsuchiya;
pianists Nathan Bello, the 1st laureate of
an international competition at Carnegie
Hall, and Elen Rapoport from Australia.
One of the major successes of the orchestra was performing Bach’s
Christmas Oratorio. In Germany it was performed together with Hans
Jürgen Rickenbaкer
(Switzerland), Stephan Schreckenberg, Sabine Diwon, Susanna Puchegger
(Germany). In Russia (January 2006, Kursk, Voronezh, Moscow) it was
performed with the Swedish Royal Baroque Orchestra soloists Emma
Axelson-Röhnglund, Karin Lündel, Johann Kristenson, and Daniel Åberg and
with Speyer Motettenchor (Head of the Choir:
Marie Theres Brand). According to the Russian and foreign media, the
concerts with Christmas Oratorio were great success.
A prominent part of this work is preparing concert programs to be performed
in the former patrimonial estate of Prince Baryatinsky (now the sanatorium
of the Russian President administrative department Maryino). This
work turned into a new creative project Maryino Music Assemblies
(spring, summer, fall, winter), in which performers from all over Russia,
Sweden, Germany, Austria, Denmark, and Canada take part. |
